I have just received my 2051, my first trunking scanner. I have been able to get the EDACS system for Riverside County, CA up and running. I'm having a heck of a time with SmartZone systems. I'm trying to put in the systems for Orange County Fire Authority and San Bernardino County.
Some questions.
1. Does "Control Code Only" work with SmartZone?
2. Is the "DEC" number shown in the RR listings the talkgroup IDs I should put in? The radio won't do a ID scan so I'm wondering if I have a valid list. It scans the freqs only.
3. Speaking of lists. When the list numbers are shown on the top of the display, are those the 10 lists specific to the the bank I'm on? If so, I can then enable or disable 1 thru 10 for each bank?
4. Do I need to set Base, Spacing Frequencies and Offset Channel for all Motorola systems and if so how do I determine them? They really jump around in the owners guide.
5. ScanCat is showing software will be released for this radio on 5/30. It can be pre-ordered for $29.95. Will this software make this process a little more intuitive and ease my frustration level?
For those who aren't familiar with radio, the programming steps seem to match the BCT-8. I went to the Uniden site looking for some in-sight into this radio and the two guides almost mirror each other. I probably have other questions but this is a start.
Please heeeelp meeeee!
