I doubt you will find any info about the PRO-160, 162, 433 and 528. I downloaded the manuals from the FCC site. Maybe more info. there, too. I'll look when I get a chance.

KC5EIB has already gotten me the part # for the 160's keytop, which is in stock. In this thread, he got the part # for the 162's front assembly, also in stock. The parts are out there, obviously.

That's surprising because the manuals aren't even on thr RS list of manuals, along with the 162, 433, 528, 135, 136 & 137.

Would you mind defining the word "Abandond" Parts are available and Radio Shack repair will still work on these radios

While the owners manuals are not available for free down load, the owners and service manuals are avail from RSU parts.

Why aren't they? Allmost every other scanner manual can be downloaded free.
I have copies of the documentation that states the PRO-433 and PRO-528 can be re-banded, yet RS or Uniden will not support them in any way as far as I know.
If there was an error, either on the part of Uniden, Japan or Radio Shack and those scanners can not be re-banded as advertised, RS should offer some relief to the hundreds of people who bought based on that promise. I have nearly 1000 members on my PRO-433/528 Yahoo group and there must be many, many more disappoijted people out there.
The PRO-160 & 162 can be re-banded so there is no problem with them.

I can not answer that, I work at the retail store level.

I have not been following that issue for these scanners so I can not you an informed answer about rebanding for the Pro433/528 scanners.

That's not an accurate statement. They are just not listed where you are looking for them. The manuals for the 433/528/160/162 can all be downloaded free of charge from the support website run by GSI Commerce for Radio Shack. The links can be easily found on each model's RR Wiki page.

I'd be interested in seeing this official Radio Shack documentation that definitively states the 433/528 were going to be made reband compliant. Sounds to me like this was misplaced speculation in the RR Wiki, or wishful thinking from hopeful owners. The 433/528 are certainly not alone as far as semi-recent models that don't support rebanding, there is a decent sized list of Radio Shack and Uniden models that don't. As far as getting any "relief" for your purchase, unless they stated they would definitively and absolutely support rebanding on these older models, they owe nothing to the consumers. Upgrading to newer models when technology changes is the name of the game. You may not like that answer, but it is what it is.
On a side note, as far as the gripe that Uniden USA should provide any support for the 433/528/160/162...why should they? It wasn't their design, Radio Shack chose to go to Uniden Japan for these models. Just because they share a parent company doesn't mean the burden should be put on the USA division to support models they had no hand in designing or marketing, that's on Radio Shack. It's a moot point anyways, as was already stated Radio Shack still provides parts and repair/service on these models.
