Default Pro-106 VHF has dissapeared??

Out of the blue and for absolutely NO reason what so ever, I have lost Complete VHF coverage on my Pro-106. Not even NOAA Weather comes in even with the Squelch down. BUT I get full UHF and 800. Any clues?

This radio is about a year old. I did a radio reset already and have verified the antenna on other radios and the antenna is not the problem. WTF? does Crap Shack stuff break down each Christmas?

Default No VHF reception

Minus any scanner defects, it sounds as if maybe a strong, nearby FM broadcast or land mobile station is making it impossible to receive any VHF. Did something nearby just come on the air by chance? When I lived in town before, the city PD repeater (2 blocks away!) cut out anything VHF when it was being used. There were also some FM radio stations (from just a few more blocks away!) which tended to desensitize the scanner. If you have not yet, try listening to the scanner at a different location, away from interference sources. Maybe it just needs moved to a different room in the dwelling it is in? Or perhaps try it out mobile, driving somewhere away from possible interference (if it's legal to have the scanner in the car where you are.) Good luck!

Question

As backwards as it might sound, try using the ATTenuator and see if that makes the Wx come in.

There are small "filters" as part of the circuitry for the radio. Each "selects" a portion of the spectrum. Now if you are only missing one "band", then I could see a bad filter or signal that enables it. But if you're missing more than one band, that would not make sense.

Are you getting low band VHF?

Default

the ATT is off Radio wide. the scanner worked great until yesterday. All I listen to is VHF High Band activity. and both my 160 and PSR600 are working indoors on the same antenna with the same power source. In fact my 160 is getting two NOAA stations with no antenna connected at all.

It continues to track Trunked systems on 800MHz both in Digital and Analog.

These Cops here and FD for that matter too, all have 110W Astro Mobile radios and one PD radio in particularly does interfere with a lot of things here. but it has never blown out a scanner before.

Thanks for the input Gentlemen, but I believe this one will be going to the Shack Service Center. This is my Second 106 to have failed somehow in about a year. I sure hoe they fix it and I'll NEVER buy a Radio Shack product ever again.
