Default Pro 197 Talkgroup Programming.

Hello. I recently purchased a Pro 197 scanner. Great scanner but im having difficulty trying to program the talkgroups for Washington Twp NJ Police/Fire/EMS. I have little knowledge on how to program talkgroups so if someone can give me step by step instructions it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

It will only scan the talk groups you have programmed in - unless you have a wildcard programmed in.

Thank You! The scanner I had b4 was a Radioshack Pro-94 and Pro-2050 programming them was a lot easier.

KS I'm in Jersey so if your still stuck pm me and we can talk on the phone!! I could be wrong but with a 197 I think if you put the red and blue ones in,the scanner will find all the trunked transmissions within that group!! The software of your choice helps a lot as well!! My friend created a file for me using Win 500 software. I can add to the file, move stuff,...ect. But to be honest I nevervtried to program in a talk group. But in the software I can see how he did it!

I just got a PRO-197 and have had a BC346XT for many years. I like to think I am at least average intellegence but found that programming a scanner is a test of my patience. So, to overcome my shortcomings I bought a programming cable and software for the BC346XT after beating my head on a wall. With a premium subscription to RR I had all the information downloaded and installed in 20 minutes.
When I got my PRO-197, history teaches good lessons. Got the cable, downloaded Win 500 and in 15 minutes I was operational. Don't punish yourself, get the right tools and fix the issue.
