So I have read several articles of people who are able to program 700mhz frequencies into their Pro 96's without any modifications. Is there any truth to this? I am specifically interested in the 769 range. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

While that's possible using Win96, the radio was never designed for these freqs, so it could be as deaf as a stone in that band. It also cannot trunk in this band.

If your area is using 700 Mhz trunking, you will need one of the newer digital trunktrackers

I have found that my Pro96 and 2096's will receive 700 MHz. OK, but not quite as good as it does on 800 however. This makes it useful for Pro96Com decoding on local 700 MHz. towers.

As Mike points out above, it will not trunk track 700 MHz. sites so you can use it as a data radio or for conventional 700 MHz. only and only if they are pretty close.

The sensitivity of the Pro-96 and Pro-2096 when unlocked for extended frequencies is highly variable. On my Pro-2096 the MilAir band is hit and miss. YMMV with respect to 700MHz.

Do I have to do anything special on the Win96 Software or just add the frequencies like normal?

As stated above, you need to ensure that you enable the "Extended Frequencies" option in Win96. Once you do that a range of frequencies from 700MHz upwards can be entered normally. The range is 764MHz-1300MHz minus cellular band.
