Default Pro-107 buy it or pass?

Did some reading on the threads about 107. Thinking of buying one from a friend for $75.00. Seems like there are some problems with it by people who have one here. My primary use would be just programming my town PD that is LTR MULI-NET. Just want to program the primary channel and the 10 or 11 other channels so I can listen. This scanner would be a slave to just these channels and nothing else ever. You guys with 107's or knowledge of, what would you suggest? Pass and get a better slave, or buy it for what it's worth? Really would it work for my LTR town. Need a quick reply, please as will be making deal Sunday afternoon. Maybe.

The Pro-107 doesn't have a keypad and is not easily programmable in the field. There are other scanners like the Pro-164 which function more like a conventional trunking scanner and are more flexible when out and about.

I have 2 and I love them. To me the only drawback is they cannot receive digital signals. Otherwise, I like having the RR database of frequencies and trunks on the scanner at all times. Great little scanner.

Default I have one also,

and it is a really good scanner. But as mentioned above, it is a bear to program without a computer. Bought mine for 50 dollars or so, used off Digicircle.com.

I don't have one...but I've never heard a bad thing about them!
People seem to like them!

Thankx guys. I do have a laptop to program as I use it on my Pro-18 ISCAN digital. I am this 107 is an Analog scanner, read a little that some of the 107's have issues with LCD backlite problems and some updates to software are glitchy. Don't want to burn tons of time programming it trying to fix software issues. Just hoping out of the box to get it up and running as my slave to my local PD on Multi Net. For the price I think I might take a chance although I am willing to buy a better scanner. But because I just want it for one thing only might be worth it.

You may have a small problem scanning multi-net. 107 won't decode it. You may want to search here on the forums about LTR multi-net. I may be wrong. So don't quote me.

Default R/S Pro-107

I wouldn't buy anything that GRE makes..just my opinion here. Uniden has a much better front end, knobs, controls, and display. It is like night and day from GRE America Corp.

I am going to pass on the 107 and am going to look into a easier to program scanner. I have just programmed my pro18 with my local LTR Multinet PD and have it running. Now will need to look for something new to buy. Thankx for the help
