Default GRE Factory Shutdown - Should I still buy?

I recently bought a used Pro-106 and am loving it! Now I want a base scanner and was considering the Pro-197 since I could use the same USB cable / software.

Should I be concerned about the GRE factory shutdown in considering another GRE product?

If I purchased a used 197 from Ebay, Craigslist, etc., would I be able to get it repaired in the future if necessary?

I'm brand new to scanning and would greatly appreciate your advice.

Thanks!

The press release indicates they will continue to support units including repair. If you love it, I'd stick with it.

Yes, you should still consider them as a good choice. If you read what's happening to them it isn't that they've gone out of business, it's just that their old manufacturing outsorcing agreement was canceled on them due to China closing the building so it could be torn down and space used for something else. Once they get a new outsourcer up and running they'll be building scanners again, according to their released plan.

I just bought a 2nd PSR-800. I put my faith in them to keep it going through the warranty.
