Question Fine tuning my RS Pro 106 questions

Below is the trunked tables for my area.

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=2880

When I originally programmed my RS Pro 106, I programmed all of the trunked channels listed. But doing a scan in search mode I also picked up 856.2875 When I saved it, it saved on the conventional list of frequencies. when I locked it out in the conventional list, It doesn't pick up that channel. So I unlocked it and changed it to FM mode on the conventional table list. I can now hear it very clear. Why wont it stop on the freq in the trunked list?

Next question:
I just purchased the Diamond RH77C antenna. It does a great job picking up freqs from a distance. I have one freq that is very fuzzy. I read somewhere about the attenuation setting may need to be turned on? I tried it but without improvement. Could it just be too far for good reception? Can somebody better explain the attenuation setting for a NOVICE?

I know ya'll get tired of answering the same stuff over and over. So I will apologize now.

Thanks

Just a thought but you might want to add that frequency to the list of trucked frequencies that contain the talk groups that you want to listen to. That's what I would do. I'm new at this though.

You do not need to save the frequency. With Motorola systems, you need only the control channels, in red and blue, programmed in for the scanner to track the system properly. I hope this helps.

856.2875 is used by 11 private radio systems in NC. It has nothing to do with your system.
You could have found that out with a simple search of the FCC database.

I do appreciate the sarcasm, makes one look things up before posting. I tried searching for FCC database to no avail. Or one that is searchable anyway. I even tried the one on the top of this website, which says I dont have the appropriate account to access the database. No biggie! I got what you mean.

I do have one last question that I'm going to try answering myself, just need confirmation.
When talking about P25 Channels. I programmed in JUST the CC's for my areas trunked system.
When scaning the trunked system I get other freqs listed on the display of my scanner, THOSE or some are the P25 freqs? Digital not Analog? Looking back at my areas trunked system it does mention analog AND APCO-25. I still should have just the CC's in the trunked table not anything else?

I kinda get the control channel thing of finding an open freq and transmitting on that freq then freeing up that freq. I hope I got that right. My explanation in the most simplest form.

Thanks for all your help

Correct. What you have is a mixed mode system, meaning some talkgroups are in analog mode while others are in digital mode. The frequencies themselves are not the ones choosing to be analog or digital. Instead, the talkgroups are the ones that are in analog or digital mode. The other frequencies you are seeing pop up are the Voice Channels (frequencies) or working channels. As long as the CC frequencies are in there, it will work fine, regardless of whether the talkgroup is analog or digital. The only thing it will not pick up, and you will never even notice them on the display of the scanner, are the encrypted talkgroups. The scanner does the hard part of finding the correct Voice Channels (frequencies) when it decodes the data from the CC frequencies.

Hope this helps and doesn't confuse more.
