Default Pro 106 part needed - transformer

I received a Pro 106 that was out of alignment and when I tried to adjust transformer T4 the ferrite crumbled. I tried to glue it back and it can receive a few stations now, but I am not sure if it is correctly aligned or a permanent repair. It is the adjustable transformer next to the volume control. I don't have the service manual, but was wondering if anyone could help me get a part number.

Thanks

If you can find a Radio Shack store that knows how to do it, you can order a service manual on CD for the Pro106.

It is RSU (Radio Shack Unlimited) part # 10822724

If I recall correctly, it was around $6.00.

The CD contains the owners manual, the service manual, parts lists (with part numbers) for mechanical and electronic components, and many diagrams and schematics and component identifications.

You will most likely have to find a company owned store (as opposed to a kiosk or some franchised locations).

It can be ordered through the RSU sales system. If a store tells you that they can't find it or can't order it, find another store that will do it for you.

I went to 4 stores before I found one that knew how to order it.

Default Pro 106 transformer

Unless you have the proper equipment and know what you are doing, it is a bad idea to try to "tune" any electronic equipment. The ferrite cores are fragile, and even a slight turn can destroy the alignment. Sometimes changing one requires adjustment of another or some other adjustment. Without the service manual and equipment, you will have little success

Thumbs up

As jaspence suggested this is a task better left to tandy's service guys in Ft.worth.
I have a complete SMT equipped bench for jobs like that and over 20 years experience, and I would opt to send it in for repair unless I didn't care about the the outcome. Transformers like that have a very limited tolerance for error even when exact components and a oscilloscope are used.
