RS Scanner Pro-404
Hello I found a pro404 scanner on my bus someone must have left it behind, so I have no manual. How do I use it
I live in the boro of queens in,NYC. I have the nypd, fdny, mta nyct, ems, etc to listed to
Can someone tell me what channels I can listen to those listed above, especially Mta.
Also do I have to be within range of them or at my house is good enough
Also how do I change channels on this thing......much help appreciated

Why didn't you turn it in to the bus driver?

U people never answer a question directly....Smh
#1 I AM the bus driver
#2 any unclaimed items after 60 days, is left back to the driver to do whatever he sees fit with the item, because now its rightfully his.
NOW....CAN my question be answered?

He must live by the old, unkind adage, "Finders keepers, losers weepers".

Go to the "Database" tab above... then "Frequency Database". You will then see a map of the USA. Scroll over New York City, then click on it. A list of NYC frequencies will appear. Download the manual and follow the instructions on how to program the frequencies you want into your scanner. Enjoy!

You should have no problem listening to all of the departments you mention. I live in NJ and pick them up with ease.
Changing channels is as simple as using the up and down arrows.

"My bus" can easily mean the bus you were on, which is how it is most often used and how at least two people took your message. This isn't a paying attention to detail issue, it's more of a misunderstanding.
That being said, seeing that you're a bus driver and are interested in looking for MTA frequencies, the database shows it as an 800 MHz Motorola Type II Smartnet trunked radio system. Sadly the scanner is non-trunking, and only covers to a maximum of 512 MHz so it will not be able to listen into MTA.

I do hear around channel 161.1900 subway convos. About pelham bay and parkchester. Bronx trains 5 and 6. I did some research and found out I can only hear trains not buses because they use a trunked system as u mentioned. How true is this?
