Question Pro 106 upgrade

I have typed "how to scan mototrbo with a pro 106". I have gotten all kinds of mixed answers. Does anyone know anything about that subject? I also asked about a bcd396xt. Ron

At this point in time,no existing scanner will scan a MotoTRBO system directly. No ifs, ands, or buts. It can be done using external software as indicated above however and in that case since the software is doing the decoding practically any scanner that can be modified to add a discrimiator tap will work (even some very old and cheap analog-only scanners like the RS Pro-95). This setup won't be portable since you'll need both a scanner (to pick up the signal) and a computer (to do the decoding).

PRO 106 with a discriminator
tap,running DSD..
Well, I found the TAP page, this says to manually install this BIT. I take it a technician should install. I am a little slow on the draw when it comes to installing something that was not there before. Please advise. Ron

It's an after-market modification to the radio so you'll either have to do it yourself or find someone willing to do it for you. A local repair shop (one that actually fixes things, not just one that swaps out boards until things work) should be able to do it for you.
