How to program wildcard freq in a pro106

Does anyone know a easy way to program a wildcard frequency in a pro106 or 197? My radios were programed when I bought them, with viper system frequencys and talkgroups. Sense then there are several towers added to the system and I need to add these (3) frequencys as a catch all Wildcard freq, Banks 8,9,10 on the scanner are empty.

The wildcard function on the Pro 106 and 197 applies only to talkgroups. By using a wildcard with talkgroups all active talkgroups can be received assuming of course you have the right frequencies programmed. There is no wildcard for frequencies. If there are new towers you can add them by programming them into your scanner either manually or by the use of software.

Im not sure what a wildcard freq is, been playing with my pro 106"s for 3 years now and never heard wildcard freq, but they do the wildcard trunkinh mode. I love self programming them, then theres no computer errors. To program a conventional freq is semi easy. I once counted 74 buttons pushed to do 1 entity. That includes backlight, alarm , pause time, favorites,and wx scan. The best way to store a freq is put it on tune- sample; tune-155.820, and push store. If that freq is in there already, it will tell you. Good luck.

A local ham put in two frequencys (viper p25) for two towers one in bank 6 and one frequency in bank 7. That was a year ago, they work fine but now the county has added 3 more towers, I have the frequencys but don't know how to manually put them in. When he done before he just used the scanner, no pc or
software and only entered the 2 output frequencys, one for each tower, took only a minute or less.
The scanners display says ( Wildcard ) when bank 6 or 7 is active. The ham that programed in the freqs
has moved away so I am trying to enter the 3 frequencys myself.

I think it would best if you were to provide some information on how the ham programmed your scanner.

Do you know if he programmed each tower as it's own trunked system (TSYS) or did he just add them to the frequency list? You can check this by going to Scanlist 6 and 7 ("Bank" is no longer applicable for the Object Oriented Scanning), hitting PGM -> EDIT -> CURR -> go down to TSYS (Is the TSYS name the same?) -> go down to Frequencies -> Do they look the same or are they different compared to each other? How many frequencies are on that page?

Then there's the question of what you want to accomplish. Do you want to be able turn off the new towers whenever you want (using Scanlists 8, 9, and 10), or do not care and just want to listen to them all to make sure you hear everything?

If you are doing a conventional freq, push tune, type in freq, and decimal point in freq. push store, and push -man- after it is stored. Your entity will eventually talk. When they do, push -store- on the display. You have now got your entity, if you want 3 more, do it 3 more times.. Arranging them comes after. Will tell you after you obtain your entities. You will get a P-L, or DCS, or if digital, you will get a -NAC- (national area code). If you got a MIXED system, do the TUNE gig again, they can be sepparated. 2 channels with no delay time.
