Cool Filmware update?

do we think maybe RS will have a firmware update like "Uniden" on the silmulcast problem?...let's hope so..looks like there going to fix the problem at Uniden.. Radio Shack needs to step up to the plate and up date!!

PRO 197

Radio Shack doesn't write any firmware at all for those scanners, GRE does.

If and when you see an update for their GRE counterparts (PSR500 & PSR600) posted on the GRE website, Radio Shack will usually post it (their branded version of it from GRE) 1-2 months later.

The two versions are not interchangeable, you must wait for the Radio Shack version for those scanners.

Man, I'm with you on fixing the whole simulcast thing. If Uniden is successful in fixing the issue, I might throw some money their way.

you know I'm doing the same thing...I will put my next scanner purchase on a Uniden if they fix the problem....GRE is way behind on updates....and then you have to wait 2months later for RS to do the same thing...

I love my pro-106. But multipath renders it completely useless in some parts of town I live in. There has got to be a fix for it.

Yep, somewhat similar to my solution. Here the distortion also seems to depend on weather a little bit. So I switch between that, the rubber ducky and the 800mhz antenna when I'm indoors. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357319743.931570.jpg

Which Uniden update addresses the Simulcast problem ? For which scanner ?

If they have solved the problem, my 106 is going into the drawer and I'll be buying that Uniden ASAP.

Are you referring to the official GRE press release or the unofficial press release by the former Executive Vice President of GRE America? If memory serves me correct, the official press release said nothing about laying people off and only a production issue while the other dude wanted to make it seem like the world is ending for GRE.

The GRE already receives simulcast the same. I did side by side with updated HP and a 500 and a non updated 396T and they all had issues.

Oh well..... I was hoping for better news on the Simulcast distortion problem.

At this point, I would be willing to pay a premium price for a scanner that handles the problems with Simulcast.

All I have right now is an expensive block of plastic.

I understand all of the above. In my area, with my testing, it made a difference between the old HP and new, but it still had plenty of dropouts.

The update did not "fix" simulcast issues nor did it claim to, but it improved it.
