Default PRO-106 Questions

I'm new owner of PRO-106. Programmed via Win500. Love the radio. Used a 396T in the past. Is there a way to set up a search of a particular trunking system to hear any ID that is broadcast? There was a way with the 396 where one could toggle between programmed talk-groups or listen to any TG that appeared on the system.

Also would be handy to know how to simply manually program a control channel if I was in another area and just wanted to see what kind of activity was on that particular system.

Thanks for your help.

Steve

When you program in your talk system, there will be a default "talkgroup" type (so long as you dont edit it) labeled as "Wildcard."

If you listen to your system with the wildcard, it will listen for any talkgroup activity, and display the TGID when it detects it. Ive had my pro-106 for about 2 and a half years now, absolutely love it. I can personally recommend a group on facebook called the "PRO-106 SCANNER OWNERS GROUP." Some pretty good guys there.

What Jarhead said, and when you monitor the wildcard if there's a talkgroup that you wish to exclude you can simply add that group and lock it out. Then it gets skipped while you listen for the others.

Its actually more streamlined than this- you can select any talkgroup in the bottom window, select "new item at bottom" from the edit menu, and the new item IS a wildcard. Its been a pleasure to work with this radio, going on 4 years now, and wildcard has been really the template for the hobby I enjoy.

If you are doing any conventional freqs, you have to put the modulation in nfm yourself-I did it-too many time.
