Default Pro-197 PROBLEM

I turned on my pro197 today in my car and the screen is completely blank. The only thing it does is produce static! Everything lights up but the software seems to be completely gone!
Is there a fix for this?! Thanks!!

When you turn it off and as soon as you turn it back on press 0,1, then 2 then enter or SEL to confirm the reset.

I apologize fxdscon, apparently you didn't understand my post...

there is no boot screen.

when you turn the scanner on, it does NOTHING but light up and produce squelch.

it's as if there is no software on the scanner.

hence, nothing to reset.

I think he meant you have to do that before it gets to anything, split second after turning on, similar to if you would look at your firmware and cpu versions but just the different number sequence.

Just an idea, but take it in the house and power it up from your wall wart and see what happens? Also check the voltage in your car at the scanner connection with a vom. (volt/ohm meter)

There is no reset button on the back of a pro-197.
The reset is done on the keypad.

Have you tried holding the PGM key while turning it on?

Take it to RS!
