Which softwear

I have an radio shack pro 197 being delivered Friday. I am new at this what is the best softwear to use to download freq. Our county uses a trunk system and reg freq. Should I use the softwear that comes with the radio or use radio refrence

Those are the three best known programming softwares. "Best" is subjective, so you have to make that decision for yourself.

All three offer a free trial period, so give them a try.

In addition to the above suggestions, don't forget to get a programming cable so that you can use the software.

Also consider getting a premium membership on radioreference. Then with the software, cable and subscription, you will be able to easily and quickly download all the stuff you need from the database here.

Unfortunately, the PRO-197 does not come with any software. So your choices are limited to the 3 listed. Or doing it by hand which will probably only take a month or so. Ha!
