Unhappy how good

Was looking at the radio shack pro-197 last night, is this scanner any good and is it hard to program?

I have one ....and if you get WIN500 to program it's easy...no problems use as a desk model...with a paper clip antenna for the simulcast problem...

AND YES I LEARNED HOW TO PROGRAM VIA KEY PAD BEFORE BUYING WIN 500!!! (YOU NEVER KNOW IF YOU WILL HAVE TOO PROGRAM IN THE FEILD)

Not at all! I program by hand without the use of software.

Try all three of the available software programs before you buy. Each has it's own strengths, They are ARC500 by Butel, Win500, and PSREdit 500. All three work with the RS and GRE versions of the scanner.
