In same way on a freezing cold bad weather day reception not as good
My antenna is in a good spot in my attic new cable wire to discone antenna
Could weather have something to do with it

Ice on their antennas won't do your listening any good.

Does the cold temperature follow a warm day? If so temperature inversion might be the problem.

Is it possible you are getting snow and/or ice buildup on the roof? This would cause a loss of signal strength.

It does now that I think about it it is when ice and snow is built
up on the roof

Thats odd, would that happen? I mean the ice and snow would have to be really thick to mess up signals.

It also depends on the frequency and the signal level as well as the amount of build up. A longer wave length would have more success as would a strong signal at 800 MHz.

About the temperature inversion thing? Or the snow and ice thing? When a person is right you got to check what you were right about.

Are you well within range of the transmission source or somewhat borderline? If you're well within range then its something else, but I had my pro-197 and pro-2096 monitoring a Tower that my location is well beyond the footprint of, and the 197 kept missing about a third of the transmissions from that Tower. However my 2096 picked up all of them. I sold the 197.

You had something else going on. A receiving radio can not cause propagation issues, that is, if you are out of the line of sight (frequency dependent) of the transmitter's antenna, no radio is going to reach up and grab a signal.

Hi Robert...my 2096 literally grabs everything, even miles beyond the Tower footprint. The 197 was missing some of those transmissions, so it's clearly not as sensitive as the 2096. You can't argue with solid consistent results. Nice Christmas tree on your QRZ. Lord Bless.
