Pro-106 Power

I've just recently picked up a used pro-106 and I've read posts about the inherent dangers of charging the batteries in the radio. Are there any similar issues with powering the radio with a power supply while running the radio? I really don't want to risk damaging the radio. Thanks in advance for guidance in this matter,

Not a battery question, it's about use of the power supply, and in the future, if you don't have sometrhing positive to add after reading the post, just move on and we'll all be thankful.

My bad your right I saw the "battery" mentioned and after seeing so many threads on batteries before, Im sorry didnt fully read it,

I have had many scanners mostly all handheld and the only problems I have had is the plug coming loose on the scanner itself no over heating or any other problems in that nature "knock on wood" hope this helps in any way.

I have a PRO-106 at work I listen to all day every work day powered off of a 9 volt wall wart (Radio Shack). I have a set of rechargeables in the black battery holder. The bottom part of the radio gets just a little warm but that is it.

I use a RS wall wart while in the hotel and a car adapter from Walmart while traveling.

Amen! But I don't see an issue with just using a power adapter instead of batteries.

I have been using my scanner almost 24/7 using the ac power adapter and never had any problems with the power.
I have done this since day one of my scanner

Is a 9volt 1.2 amp adapter to much power for the pro-106? Don't wanna take a chance and burn it up. Thanks.

No, the radio will only draw what it needs from the supply.
