Default Pro-107 Discriminator Output

Can the Pro-107 stream through the PC/IF dataport directly to a laptop for data decoding? If not, does anyone know which chip is the baseband audo chip and which pin is used for the discriminator output so I can make my own?

If this is unrealistic for the Pro-107, anyone have any suggestion for a clean data decoding scanner that's out there on the market?

Thanks!

The PRO107 supports EDACS LTR and Motorola through the PC/IF port.

Rats. That's what I was afraid of. I can't find my USB cable and not real interested in dropping $45 for one. I better look harder. Thanks!

If its a 20-047 cable that you are after I have one sitting around I would take $20 including shipping.

No... I don't think that will work. Maybe it will, but the PC/IF port is a USB-esque proprietary port. The only other scanner known to use that cable is the GRE PSR-700.

As far as I've been able to research, no one has a schematic or a way of kitbashing one - mainly because of the proprietary port.

The 20-047 may work, but I don't think it'll get the quality feed without a true discriminator tap. Because the -107 is supposed to work through the proprietary port, I haven't seen anyone post a tap help.

Thanks for the offer, though!

If it's the same cable as the PSR800 (also works on the HP1), it's a micro USB. Quite common. Get one at Fry's, Best Buy, or other electronics store. Bring your scanner with you to be sure it fits.

$6 to $15 I think.

FYI-I have a Pro-107 and the USB cable AND connector at the scanner are proprietary in shape.
So it is not a micro or mini USB and must be ordered through Radio Shack RSU parts order in store.
I am not at work now, so I can't yet tell you how much and if it is still even available in RSU parts.
With GRE's troubles the most recent casualty is the popular 4xAA yellow battery holder is no more.

Yes, you had better "Venture Forth" and lQQk harder for your misplaced cable that came with your 107.

My wife has a tendency of throwing away things she doesn't understand. Like a $100 Amtrak voucher, and perhaps this $50 cable.

Phew! Probably took $50 in man hours to find the thing but I did.

Have been able to hook it back up to laptop. Good, successful connection. Able to see WHAT the scanner is doing, but unsure if audio (data or voice) is actually being "heard" by the laptop.

This is all very new to me.
Thanks!

The cable doesn't pass audio in any form. The radio can decode the control channel and pass that data as TEXT over the cable to your computer where software can log, format, and display the data.

Cool

I got mine at the Shack. Noone on duty knew what it did, or the disc with it.. I've used it to do that cpu update. $30.00.. i dont know where I got it, but I got the cable that goes from 1 scanner to another--cloning. That- was worth finding. I can't lose any program. All rearranged-and stored. I'm still waiting for the usb cable to pay for itself. I dont have any 700 or 800 p25 systems, or project 25. Just a conventional area.

maintrunk, Let me get this straight, did you mean to say in your last post that for $30
and you don't know where you got the cable, that you got it and it somehow allows you
to clone a Pro-107 to another Pro-107 ? I'm thinking that this can't be what you meant
to say because the Pro-107's library and scanlist/config files are stored on the SD card in the
battery compartment and to work with it requires that you remove it and insert the SD card
in an SD card reader, So please clarify it by some magic this magical mystery $30 cable
does indeed somehow clone that SD card in the 2nd Pro-107 to the 1st Pro-107 scanner.
If so, you have just discovered a GREat trick indeed. Look forward to some clarification !

Post PC/IF USB Cable Source for both Pro-107 & PSR-700

Speaking of the proprietary USB Cable that only fits the Pro-107 & PSR-700 here is what I found:
As I mentioned, the RS Pro-107 RSU USB cable is out of stock, however, today I was cruising through
the official greamerica website, clicked "Products", then clicked "Radio Scanner Accessories" and
scrolled down and while many products indicated "Out of Stock" this PC/IF cable indicated in stock !
So somewhere down the road if someone finds themselves needing this calbe try clicking this link.

https://www.greamerica.com/shop/cgi-...od&ref=100-026 A GREat bargain @ only $29.99 +S&H+Tax !!!

GRE P/N: 100-026
- USB PC/IF Data Cable
- For PSR-700
- Also for PRO-107
