Default Pro 197 Fireware Upgrade

I currently have 1.8 version on my Pro197 i do not have the connector cable to hook to usb since i was able to program everything in manually. Is upgrading to 2.1 worth the time and effort to go buy the usb cable ? Thanks

Seems like one of the updates some of the 700 mhz frequencies were removed. Im not sure what else was changed in the others, but I have mine updated. I look for the next update to have something to do with narrowbanding if there is one. If your scanner is working fine for you then I wouldnt worry about it.

The cable can be used with programming software, firmware updates and unitrunker and other programs. It really is nice having the cable if you want to use one of those.

I was watching tv today and a Radio Shack commercial came on. According to the commercial they only sell cell phones. That is the only thing they showed. They could do so much more if you ask me. Of course Radio Shack gets their firmware from GRE and releases theirs about 6 months later. Hehe. I wouldnt expect so much out of Radio Shack if I were you.

Uniden still has some issues with their recent firmware update. Most people are rolling back a version. Everyone has their problems.

In regards to the original "thread", should he upgrade to 2.1....I have a new 2.0 RS197, one thing new is when u pgm a new freqy and its already in the scanner it states when u press "save" do u want another of this freqy", which is a good feature...Also the TG "PTCH" shows up when the TG is being patched over another....I also have a RS197 that has ver; 1.7 that does not do the 2.1 upgrades....

I think it is, it fixes several issues with search, and other things.
Right now I thing your 2 releases behind.

So it's up to You about updating.

I added everything manually and works perfectly, I just dont want to mess anything up by connecting and upgrading.. I dont want to miss out if the upgrades are important! Very good with computers so it drives me crazy when an update is available and i havent done it haha Just wondering if it was worth it
