Default Pro-106 Favorites

I only have 3 frequencies (1 TGRP, 2 CONV) setup in Favorites. However I rarely receive transmission esp. for one of the CONV channels in FAV mode. Is there a reason for this? I check by switching to Scan mode, then immediately to FAV mode (Scan mode picks up the communication readily) where FAV mode does not pick up the communication for this particular CONV frequency. In advance thanks

You are going to have to be much more specific about your FAV reception question. For instance, what CONV and TGRP are you putting in FAV? Location, system, etc. are important variables to know in order to better help you.

I agree with the other respondent who asked if these were VHF frequencies. The Pro-106/GRE PSR 500 don't do extremely well on VHF, particularly if you are using the RS 800 mhz rubber antenna. Also, it would be nice to know if the terrain is flat, saturated with other radio traffic (such as Houston, Texas), & whether you are mobile or in a home or building.

It sounds rather strange that it is not heard in FAV, but only when scanning is resumed for other scan lists.

If you are using WIn500 or can activate the "hit count" function in your radio. I would see how many hits you get in a week. Then, if you like, move these to the FAV scan list. Or, you could do both & check the hit count to see if these targets are that active.

I keep rarely used listening targets in FAV such as surveillance, etc. I also have a scan list set up for only surveillance objects.

i know what you mean. I get that alot on my 197.. I am less than 1 mile from arepeater, and sometimes it does not stop on that conv-freq.. This applies to vhf and lo only with me. Duplicate your freq. On manual put them together in the same scanlist. On 1 of the freqs push -Att- button .. 1 will have att pushed, and 1 does not . 1 of them will stop on it. I've never had problems with uhf, and 800's...

I'm going to ask the question again...are you talking about VHF?...If you are the 106 has been known for not picking up VHF very well... I can tell you my 106 does not either....

conv channel means it's either VHF OR UHF....when programing...so yes that's the reason as I see it...someone might have an other take on it...but again in my VHF conv programing the audio is "low" you can use "boost" to help...hope this helps you understand...

using a outside antenna always helps pulling in VHF....a good VHF antenna on your unit will help also...but again the pro 106 is known for "low" audio on VHF...the one thing I don't like about the unit...

Greene County, Indiana (IN) for anyone else. The first thing that I noticed that anyone labeled Bloomfield Police is not on a repeater, which is how most people are able to hear their local police. It might be possible that they are on Indiana Project Hoosier SAFE-T Trunking System, but I could be wrong. I don't live in the area so I can't really tell you much more.

Just now, my county deputy calls in to county dispatch requesting dispatch to contact Bloomfield PD 2 for his K9, could her dispatch call out to PD but not PDs answer back, then dispatch call back to the county deputy saying, Bloomfield 2 advises his K9 is not trained in tracking, so county despatch calls a K9 from next county

You can turn the squelch off by turning it counterclockwise. If thats all you want, and they have pl's dcs, nac, you can turn it -off-..It will slow down tremendously in scan speed..If you are doing what you said earlier, you should be goon... I dont know about anyone else, I put the delay to 80 on everything.

Have you dropped the scanner or has it taken any blows? What type of antenna are you using? If you're still using the rubber duckie antenna that came with it that may be some of the issue. You may want to try a band specific antenna if you can. I've found chaning my antenna out will help reception issues most times, but if the agency you're trying to monitor is using poor equipment or hasn't maintained things as they should this could be a problem also.

A couple people stated they have noticed reception issues on VHF but I monitor VHF every day with mine and my 106 picks up almost as well as my Motorola HT1000.

Hmmmmm, I'm at a loss. I think it was said a few posts up maybe they just aren't using a repeater and if that's the case there's a good chance you may not pick up the mobile/portable traffic.

How can one find out about this repeater or not?
Can someone look on this website for me @ Bloomfield Indiana PD & tell me what my scanner settings should look like or be?
