Pro 106 help please.
I did a master reset on my Pro-106. When I scan the freq's that I put into it, I can have the squelch all of the way off and I cannot get the reception to pick up channels. I can pick up channels and have squelch when I do a Stalker search, but no squelch or signals when I do a regular scan.
When I first bought the unit I could put the freq's (P25) in under the CONV setup and recieve the signals. Should I be putting them in under the TGRP setup instead (after the master reset)?
Is there something in the expert menu that has the squelch turned up all of the way during normal scan and not in the signal stalker scan?
I hope this makes sense....

Are you trying to program Michigan Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) Trunking System, Statewide? You should not be programming CONV or using stalker to follow radio traffic.
What needs to be understood is that radio communications no longer depend on actual "frequencies," but this idea of a trunked radio system where many agencies share a half dozen or so frequencies and uses a system to assign frequencies as needed. That is why just plugging in a frequency will not get the desired radio traffic. You need to set up a talkgroup (TGRP) and a talk system (TSYS) that will monitor the control channel (showing as red or blue) and then your scanner will decode that signal and follow the traffic you want. I have a very basic run down of how to do that below.
Here's a manual that's relatively easy to follow and provides tons of information on how to manually program the scanner. I would highly suggest that you read through it at least once. If you don't, at least try to read the section Understanding Trunking and Creating (Programming) Objects: Easier to Read Pro-106/197/PSR500/600 Digital Scanner Manual
What you need to do is go to PGM > NEW > TGRP > TSYS: New > P25 AUTO > Tag (whatever name you want) > Frequencies: (Plug in any red and blue frequencies in your area) > Save > ID: (DEC of what you want to listen to, such as 12561 for Bay City Police) > Tag: Name of "channel" > Save.

Thanks Spitfire. Do I have to put all of the ID (DEC) numbers in to be able to pick all of them? There is only room for 1 set of numbers to do this. Did I miss something again? I went to the website link that you provided me and it didn't say how to enter more than one ID (DEC) to the talkgroup.
Also, I still haven't figured why I have no squelch control in scan mode, where I had it before.
I appreciate the help. Some things that some people think are hard I can pick up pretty easy. Things that some people think that are easy I seem to have trouble with. It's a human thing I guess. If we were all perfect we wouldn't need forums like this (Which I'm glad I found!!!!!).

You can program anything you want, there is no set rule on what you can do with an almost limitless radio. I prefer to search for new talk groups, so I set a Wildcard and when something talks I just store it and later put whatever tag I want on it. Just set the squelch control to half way through it's range.

Did you turn on Global Attenuator after the reset? Default is off, but while the welcome screen is displayed if you hit ATT it will turn it on.

You only put in a single talkgroup ID and save it. To have more than one talkgroup, you need to program in some more. A talkgroup is basically a virtual channel, and you just program a new channel when you want to listen to something else. You shouldn't have to worry about making too many objects as it's doubtful that you will hit the memory limit anytime soon. To make more, you do the PGM > TGRP > TSYS: (This time, use left and right arrows and select the one you already have made) > Go through making a brand new channel for whatever you want to monitor.
