Wirelessly posted (Moto Droid Bionic: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.4; en-us; DROID BIONIC Build/6.7.2-223_DBN_M4-23) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30)

Look up "reset" in your manual and do a full reset. HTH.

I am in the process of learning all the ins and outs of the 106, clearing the memory is just a matter of:

turning the unit on while pressing the "0" key, followed by

"1" clears all working memory and resets all 'Global Settings' to factory defaults. Press ENT to continue within 6 seconds.

or

"2" resets all 'Global Settings' to factory defaults. Does not affect working memory. Press ENT to continue within 6 seconds.

You can download a PDF copy of the manual from the Radio Shack web site. FWIW I keep a copy of most of my radio manuals in a Dropbox account so I can access them from my smartphone, tablet or any handy computer. Helps my memory.

The process for resetting the scanner can also be found on page 92 of the owners manual, http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/uc/rs...0197_PM_EN.pdf

Turn the scanner on, when the welcome screen is shown press 0

then press 1

then press Enter

then press any key

your scanner is now back to factory defaults.

The best cleaning method I use is a moist Q-tip. Rub gently--moist-not soaked.

I think you got "clearing" and "cleaning" mixed up there! Don't worry, I thought the same thing when I glanced at the topic a few days back.
