I guess I got lucky, mine came with software, cable, beltclip and antenna. Was not worried about antenna though as I went last weekend and bought another RS800 for it.This is night 2 with it and I do believe the reception is much better than my Pro106. The SCHP on the Greenville tower has always had a static problem,it is mentioned in the SC forums but with this little gem 95 percent of the static is gone. I just wish it had more buttons, but I am getting used to the menus. Super easy to program with I-Scan also.Just wish it was better on airbands.

Dollar General usually has them for about $7.00 each for a ac to usb or car lighter to usb.

Question for those who have purchased this scanner....

Does the PRO-18 have the same 'hard to view display unless the back light is' on issue that the PSR-800 has? Would like to add one to the stable if they become available at this price again, but really don't need another radio that makes it hard to see what it's receiving unless the back light is on all the time.

Thanks for any information.

The Pro-18 is the PSR-800 with fewer features as identified in the wiki, the most glaring of which is NO APCO P25 Phase II TDMA and X2-TDMA reception. The Pro-18 DOES have the same display technology as the PSR-800. I have both models and they are the same display. I program my display to come on for 10 seconds for each transmission. Yes, this does consume more battery, however, that's not an issue for me. I run mine mostly on the usb power port. Hope this helps your evaluation of the Pro-18. I have several Pro-18s and find them to be a very good scanner for my scanning needs. I'm keeping my PSR-800 for a Phase II TDMA system being upgraded this year in my local area.

Default Pro 18 vs Pro106

Here is my take after sitting down with both side by side. I love my 106, but hands down th 18 has a better front end. My 106 missed some transmissions that the 18 got, but the main thing is the 18 is much clearer. The 106 has the advantage of pushing a button to add or exit playlists were you have to make a few button pushes to do it in the 18. Both are easy to program with software so it is a tie there. The 18 seems a little more battery hungry also. After trying this little jewel, I see a psr800 in my future. Just for a note I have a RS 800 duckie on both radios. Also the 18 has easier charging and powering options that are also cheap.

A good summary. Although I would point out a difference in the software - the PRO-18 software is free, whereas the use of the PRO-106 software beyond the trial period requires a purchase.

Let's remember that the updates are free and doesn't cost every six months just to update the database. A bonus for cheapskates like me.

Last week when I clicked on the link provided on this thread it would pop up pretty quickly and say the item was out of stock. Today when I tried it went to the website but I get this circling set of black dots, as if it's searching or loading the page. Unfortunately it never stops - just keeps doing that until I exit the page. This is from a Samsung Galaxy III smartphone. Anyone else see this happening?

Was able to connect with my Samsung Galaxy Express. It's still out of stock.

Have been watching it closely too...mine was stolen. It was recovered, still works fine but it got nicely scratched up in the process. I'd love to have a second one anyway just to save the wear-and-tear on the BNC connector from transferring it between my house and car. Have had excellent performance out of this one, they seem to be really great scanners, just not quite up to PSR-800 capabilities. At this price they don't have to be; even for the $200 I paid for mine last summer it was a great purchase. I missed the first two lots, but I can't imagine they'd leave the page up unless they're going to get at least a few more. Good luck to all of us.

That's amazing. I guess these Pro-18's trickle in from store returns and demo units. It's been unavailable at stores for like over a year, right? I keep seeing some ebay professionals selling these in multiple lots. Very interesting!
