Lightbulb Whistler WS1040....

....is now in stock on the RS website.

$599.99 seems a little steep. The PRO-651 is $200 cheaper. Aren't the pretty much the same radio?

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Default Wow!

IMHO, that's only $275 more than what the the RRP should be on these (essentially 10 year old technology) models

That's why RS is pretty much a dead company at this point. The corporation has completely lost their mind. Good Night....

Still cannot believe (Whistler) they are more than the 4/536's from Uniden.

And those radios do not decode APCO P25 Phase II. RS is done.

Radio Shack is not going to sell to many at that price. Amazon has them at a more appropriate price range,

Cool

Sheesh, $600.00, $800.00, A few more dollars, you can get a computer.. As far as that Whistler/ pro 106 goes, only shiny buttons and updated V-scanners I bet.. Maine wont be in it, we are still making our system, SO, I say-- best of luck getting THAT much outta me for 1 scanner... It needs a few more tricks.. TRBO/NEXDEN/PHASE II/,,,THEN we'll talk...

These companies prey on the weak. The strong shall survive and the weak shall parish.

Owing the 106 I can say I'm not a fan of the "object oriented" scanning memory setup and prefer the Uniden approach but I will say these Whistler ones - in black - look better than the previous GRE/RadioShack ones in silver and grays. I'll give Whistler a little credit for changing the look for the better...even if the guts are the same. Can't say that improvement is worth that price hike, though...

Newegg is where I get most of my computer hardware and they have the Whistler 1040 for $404.25, considering I paid $399 for my 500, does not seem to be to bad of a price.

Newegg.com - whistler scanner

I am waiting for the Whistler 1080. Hamstation has the 1080 and 1095 listed, but no prices listed, says to call for pricing. Can't be to far off I would guess.

The User's Guide for the Pro-651 (Pro-106 clone) indicates that cloning is supported between the GRE PSR-500/600, RS Pro-106/197/651/652, and Whistler WS-1040/1065.
