radioshack pro 528 problem

The radio want cut on with batteries and when i plug it in it cuts on but it want recieve anything. it had a big rattle in it and so i opened it up and it had like a small black square just floating around inside that had like 10v and something else on it. im guessing that that was why it want recieve anything no weather or anything but im not sure if it can be fixed or not. but it was given to him for free so no money lost in the deal

If that square has wires, re solder them from where it broke loose & see what happens.

thats the thing idk where it broke loose at because you could shake it and it was just rattling around inside

Take the scanner apart & look for a broken wire or where it broke loose from where it was soldered.
There should be some sign of where it broke loose from.
