Thinking of buying the Pro651. Can I use the 20-047 cable with it or do I have to buy the 20-546 cable? The reason I'm asking is because I just saw a reference in the Pro164 yahoo group about using the 20-546 cable with the Pro164, so is the 20-546 cable just a newer version of the 20-047 or is it in fact different in hardware and software?

also, just to confirm, I need to use Arc500 for the Pro651 correct?

On your last question - nope. Win500 and PSREdit500 should also work Mike

Ok but I found this on butel.nl

New Radioshack PRO-649 / PRO-650 / PRO-651 and PRO-652 software compatibility:

All versions of the ARC404 and ARC500 software packages are compatible with the new Radioshack scanner models that were released spring 2014.

Please refer to this table:

ARC404 is compatible with the PRO-649, PRO-650, PRO-404 and PRO-405 and the GRE PSR100 and PSR200.
***ARC500 is compatible with the PRO-651, PRO-652, PRO-106, PRO-197, GRE PSR500, GRE PSR600, Whistler 1040 and Whistler 1060 digital scanners.****

The free demo software that is included with the Radioshack 20-549 USB programming cable is also fully compatible with the new scanners.

Please refer to this table to select the correct software:

For the PRO-649 select the PRO-404 / ARC404 software
For the PRO-650 select the PRO-405 / ARC404 software
**For the PRO-651 select the PRO-106 / ARC500 software**
For the PRO-652 select the PRO-197 / ARC500 software

I used to use the win software, then started using Arc software and liked it much better.

If I remember correctly the 20-546 is the updated version of the 20-047 but I couldnt say for sure.

The 20-546 cable works with the 164-106-197. This I know for a fact. Since the 651 is almost the same as the 106 the same cable should work. I dont know anything about the 20-549 cable.

I had the Pro-164. The 20-546 programming cable will work with it and the 20-047 cable will work with the pro-651 fine.

Well if you like the ARC software from before, then by all means use it. But there are other alternatives, and you can find the links from this article from our wiki (note that all links are blue)

Awesome, thanks everyone. I have used the Win97 software years ago, then for some reason switched to the Arc software and I liked the interface of the Arc software much better. It seemed much more navigable to me.

Now I just have to see if Radio Shack will give me the online sale price for the Pro651 in the store. I emailed them, we'll see if I get a reply back.

they said they were changing their name to "something-general". (couldn't understand the kid). I did get a reply back and they said they aren't honoring online sale prices because of the bankruptcy but they will forward my email to upper management.

But too late, I bought one on Ebay for $179.99 w/ $13 one day shipping last night. I'll wait until I get a reply back from "management" to tell them they lost the sale.
