PRO-106 PSR-500 phase 2 reception ?

I seem to remember right before GRE closing down. hearing that one of their software guys downloaded a new software version to enable Phase 2 reception as a "parting gift" to 500/106 owners? Is this true or just a rumor?

Lilely you mean firmware and not software.


It's not true.

never heard that as it would take a different decoder to do the phase 2 not firmware in the 500 106 scanners

That was for the PSR-800, and yes, that was the first p2 scanner, which is what evolved into the PRO 668, and the Whistler 1080, 1088, 1095, and the 1098.

The first and still one of the best.
I had the radio a year or so at least before I read that a firmware upgrade was available to get to P2.

We had a new P2 system in the area so I did the upgrade and was impressed that all it took was firmware.

Still a great scanner.
