Question Pro 2096 volume problem

I just purchased a new pro 2096 and the volume of car mobiles is much louder than the volume of the central dispatch. Is this normal for the pro 2096 model?

Can't say I've ever noticed it on my own - If it's a digital transmission, try turning the AGC control on. Press FUNC+MAN at any time to toggle the control off or on.

Digital AGC has no affect on analog transmissions.

Here in Yuma there are radical differences in the volume levels of different agencies. It doesn't vary from mobil to base as much as from repeater to repeater.

I'm currently experimenting with the "light bulb in series with the external speaker" trick. As the current to the speaker goes up on loud signals, the impedance of the light bulb goes up (when it starts to light dimly) and the speaker increase is reduced. It has helped considerably on the most loud stations. I still need to obtain and try some other voltage/wattage bulbs, and will report the optimum one when I find it.

Turning on the AGC control seems to have fixed the volume problem i was having with the pro 2096. Thanks InlandAZ!
