Pro91 vs. Pro 96 for VHF lo-band
Running a Pro91 and a Pro96 both programmed for DPS in the 154-155MHz range this evening.
While I understand that the Pro96 is not optimal for VHF the Pro91 blows it outta the water for lock and clarity!
(I'll have to go back and remove FMN freqs from Pro96 program to be sure, but the 91 seems to beat it everytime. Also the 96 has some birdies in this range, 154.6800MHz in particular. )
That being said the 96 kicks ass for a APCO25 application, but lacks a lot for VHF.
If you listen to a lot of VHF then an older version would likely be good investment as the older version blows the newer away here in VHF-Land.
(That being said I just heard a repeat of the VHF on the 96 as a SA-DPS APCO25 repeater feed, so when the DPS goes entirely APCO you won't get squat on the 91. Repaeat was about 30 seconds later, so that ain't bad)
Perhaps this would be better in the TX Forum, but I wondered if there were similar experiences across the board...
