Scanner Caddy/Cradle at Big Lots?
Hello All,
I don't know how many "Big Lots" stores there are throughout the country. However, if you are in California read this...
Last week, I went browsing through their store in Escondido [San Diego County] and found something called, "Where's The Remote?". Anyone seen this thing? It has provisions for AA batteries in the bottom.
When it is switched on and you remove the tv/vcr/satellite/universal remote, it will ask you "Where's The Remote?", if you haven't replaced the remote in the cradle in a few minutes.
It's dimensions are 4" W X 4 1/4" D X 5" H. It's made of black plastic with a silver band at the base.
Now, I had been looking for an inexpensive unit like this for some time; at $5.00, this one fit the bill.
It is a little large for the Pro-95. So, I cut 2 strips from an old mouse pad, super-glued them to the sides of this caddy and [drum roll please]: one scanner caddy.
Its got rubber feet, sits on the table by my tv perfectly. It will tilt the scanner backwards about 15 degrees from vertical. I have not found that to be detrimental to it's performance.
Just thought you'd like to know...

Interesting find there... It'd be cool if you could re-program it to say "Where's the scanner?"

Are those dimensions the inside or outside? If my scanner will fit, will go by and take a look.

Handheld Radio/police Scanner Stand
These are really cool, These are small stands that work great to hold handheld scanners on your desk or night tables, They,ll work on cell phones, scanners etc. the hands are on metal arms that are bendable(carefully) to adjust to the size of your scanner. These would make cool inexpensive gifts, Check out the pictures, there a radio shack scanner in one, a bigger uniden scanner in one and a cell phone in one. These even work well for many tv remotes!!

i get my scanner caddies at my doctor's office ! free !
the drug reps leave these free plastic brochure holders...they fit my handhelds perfectly (well almost perfectly, i have to take the belt clip off--but i've never used one anyway!)
and the docs are happy enough to be rid of them cluttering up their office...at least mine are.
a win-win situation.
i'm sure they could be had cheaply at any office supply store.....you see them at many business'...

My doctor is not as fortunate to have the drug reps hand these out. However, I got 4 of them at Staples Office Supply. They can be used in different configs. The Pro-96/97 will sit either inside or outside of the holder. The only drawback is limited access to some of the keys when the radio is on the inside. The top-mounted controls are exposed and can be used this way, however. They are made of clear plastic.
