Unhappy Pro 2055 Display Fix Failure

Hi All.

Well I rolled the dice and got a 2055 with a blank display off eBay. After several attempts at trimming the ribbon cable, I still can't get the display to work. Any ideas? BTW, "the fix" worked perfectly on my 97 off eBay. Thanks.

Default Re: 2055 Fix

Which ribbon cable did you trim - the first one as soon as you open up the case or the second ribbon attached to the display after removing the front faceplate? I have had fixed 3 2055s and they were all having problems in the connection of the second ribbon cable that attaches to the actual LCD. I look at them through a jewelers glass. Some look like a microscopic piece of tape or something is on them. After I cleaned them they worked fine...... Knock on wood. If you cleaned the second and it still doesn't work its probably a bad LCD.

I thought I read a thread on the 2055 group that trimming was only temporary, all it does is shorten the cable. The issue turned out to be the molex connector. Some had success in removing the cable, opening the connector and inserting something like cardstock--closing against then remove cardstock, then opening the connector and re inserting the cable and close connector. Any one else do this or just replace the connector?

Quite honestly, once I got to the right ribbon, (I'm such a tool!) all I did was clean the ribbon, and re-insert it. Same with the PRO-97. It seems to be working. Let's see what happens.
