Default Newbie Question: RS Pro-95 Win95 Files Help

Okay guys I'm real new to this and just bought a Radio Shack Pro-95 scanner. I got the proper data cable for my pc and have downloaded Win95. So here is my quetion, is there a data base somewhere that I can download .P95 files that are ready to go? I live in Knoxville TN and work near Gatlinburg in Sevier County. Thanks in advance for any help. The manual with the scanner is not that user friendly as others I have seen here have stated.

click on the RRDATABASE at the top of the page. Then click on the map for tennessee, then go to sevier county and what else you want. Information is there.

The only place I know of with a collection of .p95 files is the PRO-95 yahoo group.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PRO95
look in the files section. They may or may not have one for your area and
if they do, it may or may not have what you want to listen to.
The best thing to do is make your own.

Thanks Tom I set up a member ship with the Yahoo group. Yeah I had already looked into the data base and saw the Sevier County info, I was just looking for some pre-made files to play around with to see how the Win95 program worked when I loaded them into the scanner.

I started a group just a couple of months ago for the storage of .p95 files (it is still very small, but seems to be growing). There is one posted in there that may have at least some of what you are after. The group is located at:

Chris,

I got a few files from a couple of Yahoo groups I joined.

Got one working now.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to make my own file using info I'm gathering from the database here.

I'm trudging through it but learning as I go.

One question though. Not really understanding the difference between open and closed banks with trunked systems. I read open will recieve all talk groups but closed will recieve only the ones you desinate in Win95 or your scanner. So does this mean if you have frequencies loaded and bank is open it will recieve all talk groups but just not show info when it picks up a talk group that has no data loaded about it?

Also is there a limit as too the amount of trunked frequencies I can input in one bank?

So when I enter all frequencies and then enter all talk group info into Win95 do I have to follow some order or will the radio sort it all out?

Thanks,
Buddy
