Default needing help on something RR related

I was wondering if there is a site dedicated to RR frequencies for different states??

I am working on designing a model railroad and would like to put a scanner under the layout and have it transmit different RR operations on it.

Anyone have any ideas?? I live in Elmira NY and currently have 160.800 and 161.070 on my pro-95 scanner.

Are you saying you'd like to pick up other states? Because that won't be possible. Unless you're saying you bring the layout on the road to shows... Is that it?

You may have trouble getting one specific area, but there are a number of railroad scanner feeds at RailroadRadio.net:

RailroadRadio.net - Eastern Zone
RailroadRadio.net - Central Zone
RailroadRadio.net - Mountain Zone
RailroadRadio.net - Western Zone

Info at RailroadRadio.net - Home

That would seem to be a nice fit with the RadioReference "Live Audio" feature.

Maybe try this group to see if anybody knows: RailScan : Discuss All Aspects Of Railroad Radio

Other than that, you might just have to search, since you're out there a ways.

Default RR SCANNING FREQs

Just get a 100 channel scanner & program all 97 AAR railroad allocated frequencies in it this way you wont miss anything if assignments change in the future.

Take a look at Dave Marshall's web site at http://www.railfanswelcome.com . He has a list of frequencies by state and a list of railfan locations.

You could always hook a scanner up to a computer and record the audio. Then play it back as an mp3 or wav file. I've also seen guys using FRS radios (or 49Mhz HTs) and simulating traffic between a dispatcher and train crew as well.

Or, just move the scanner into your train room and listen as you operate your trains. I've done that before while operating MSTS routes for my local area.
