Default Railroad photo's?

I live 20 mins from GCT in NYC, and i am wondering if there are any restrictions on taking pics or using your AAR radio for Rail buffing in the GCT or Penn station?

I would find the security department and let them know that you are a rail buff and that you will be shooting some photo's of the trains. MOST of the time they will just take your info and tell you to have fun. If the desk officer gives you a hard time, ask for the supervisor. Get one of their business cards so if an officer stops you, just hand them the card and said you got their approval.

The man is right but there are those restricted areas that aren't always posted and "approval" won't save your butt if you're found where you aught not be.Generally speaking there are no restrictions on and no approval needed for photographing in areas open to the public and those are pretty obvious, as long as you don't wander into dubious places you'll be alright.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Amtrak has a policy that states that photographs can not be taken from an Amtrak platform. You might want to look the actual policy up, but I believe it states something like that.

Per their policy
you must be a ticketed passenger to legally take photographs from the platforms. Otherwise, it is a restricted area and photography not legal.

I think that it is a total crock. But it is true.
