Default Analog Scanner for Rail Monitoring

I'm thinking about picking up a cheap analog scanner for scanning rail only. Are there better options? What would you all recommend? I was thinking the BC75XLT with a good high gain antenna.

If you only want a few railroads programed the BC75XLT would be fine. If you want them all I would suggest the BC75's upgrade replacement the BC125XLT. It has all the railroad frequencies preprogramed. It also has Alpha Tags which are nice for knowing which railroad is talking.

Would you want a HT or a mobile/base scanner?

This is the lowest cost for a HT that Uniden has:

Uniden Bearcat BC72XLT Police Scanner Radio

And this is a good low cost base Uniden scanner:

Uniden Bearcat BC355N Police Scanner
