Unhappy I`v Had It With Radio Shack #$%&!

I just got a Pro 197 and I sent my wife to get me a USB-PC Scanner Programming Cable.I gave my wife a note with the name of the cable and the cat#20-546.The guy takes the note and gives her something called a Gigaware cat#26-949.They turned out to be the same price.Thats the only thing the Radio Shack guy got right. I called them and asked the girl if they had a USB-PC Scanner Programming Cable# 20-546.? She said yes.So I asked her why did the guy give my wife something that was not what my note said? She had no answer.After this I think I`ll do all my buying from the web.

You send your wife to Radio Shack tobuy a specific part number and she comes back with a different part.

It sounds like you either need a new wife or a new parts store.
It is probably easier to change stores, although that may not solve the problem.

I had a girl who looked at my receipt and kept assuring me that two months was over three months. Then the banger- type boss made up some excuse that made me want to touch him, appropriately. I went to another store, where the broken BMC, radio was replaced.

That's alright, I asked my wife to get me a scanner for my birthday one year. She knew all the information and what the scanner looked like and they refused to sell her the scanner. Their excuse was that they didn't trust her and didn't want to have a return. I believe that they hire on the basis of a blank look and the ability to shrug your shoulders and say "I don't know."

Never call and ask an RS employee if they have anything in stock, period. Just go and see for yourself. Never believe anything an employee tells you, unless he/she is the rare one who actually has a clue. Of course, if they do have a clue, they won't be there long.

These simple rules make dealing with RS a lot less stressful.

A few months back, I am on a mission for an ex. hard drive and not spend $80- 100. I go into same, lame R S. as before. The urban girl goes in back, and after quite awhile, comes out and declares they have none. I then asked the fairly competent, newer, fill in and long time employee/ manager. He came back with one.

We have similar problems with Dick Smith stores here in Australia. They used to sell electronic components, kits etc and employed staff who knew about such things. They now sell laptops, televisions, MP3 players and a few electronic items. I was shopping for a new multimeter and as I couldn't see any on the shelves I asked the sales girl if they sold them. Her reply was " what is a multimeter ?" I left the store and bought one elsewhere

I try and discourage anyone I know from buying anything from RatShack because of the incompetent fools employed by that company. Unfortunately, in my area (and likely quite a few places) RatShack is the only store where one could buy a scanner, etc. From here on out, I believe I'll be purchasing future scanners, etc. from reputable dealers online, that way I know that I'm getting the product I pay for from someone who won't try and sell me a cell phone.

EVERY time I go to RS, it is the same thing,... "huH?"
I always go with a cat # and I always have the price and description on a piece of paper. They always so, we don't have one in stock, or the claim they don't carry that item. I always assure them, they have it and it is located 'over here'. Just check me out please!

The worst is when I went to get a 10' long Antenna Mast. I know they're in stock. I give the part number to the clerk and tell him, Its 10 FEET Long and about 2" in diameter, GRAY in color. I know you keep them in the back somewhere.... 45 min later.... after the boss helped... every time I go to RS, I swear I'm not going back. But I have 4 stores with in 10-15 min from home.... uggghhh....patience..

I do defend them on the cell phones. I wanted two simple things, no data plan and a decent camera, at the same time. Verizon didn't carry any. I got a phone at RS.
