I have read on other forums that when sellers run out of an item that they expect to receive more of shortly that they jack up the price rather than cancelling the listing, since if they cancel they have to pay a relisting fee. If they jack up the price they know that nobody would order one. However, as you guys have pointed out a fool and his money are soon separated.

This is about one scanner, the UNIDEN BCD996XT and an outrageously high price I found on Ebay for it. So tell me again how this isn't about a Uniden product? Post what I want? Thank you very much. That's what I'm doing.

I'm thinking something got lost in translation here because the very fact people can buy this product from so many other sources is what makes the person who wants $960 for it so ridiculous. For the second time now, who's riled? My original post has nothing to do with anger or "angst" as Gary put it, or being "riled" in any way. I simply commented on an outrageous price I found on Ebay. So how does this constitute being riled? Admittedly, others have been attempting to act as though all this is foreign to them when they're the one's who are creating the emotional aspect here. Oddly though, these people don't like me mentioning a greedy Ebayer but will trash hams who are asking too much at a ham show. This is the hippocracy I'm dealing with here, but riled? Maybe a little but not until some people started acting like it was a mortal sin to so much as mention an Ebay seller who wants almost a thousand dollars for a $420 item.

I guess I'm at fault here for even thinking I could create some light-hearted discussion among others, but I realize I'm not among the popular group on RR.com. I am sure there are many many solid and safe deals. I just got involved in a bad one and it just put a bad taste in my mouth waaay back then. I was a naive buyer and probably got what I deserved, but I blame no one but myself. Like anything, you need to be informed and not react on impulse. I learned.
