Huh? The OP admitted he dropped the scanner on the floor while unwrapping it. How can you say it was damaged during shipping?

Trying to return or collect from the shipper or seller would be FRAUD. There is no proof it was damaged in shipping after it smashes into the floor.

Order and pay for a new 536, and make sure your in a padded cell while unpacking it.

I'm not surprised. For some reason Uniden continues to make scanners that can't handle gravity. For 500 bucks you'd think they'd at least have a class 6 anti-grav unit in their scanners. Sheesh.

OK calm down everyone. I'm only joking.

Caterpillar has gone from 1 post to "0" posts? How does one do that? (rhetorical question) He's not accepting PM's or emails. I suspect we will never know how he made out?

Post counts in the Rants forum don't count (and this thread was moved there).

All the more reasons why I think they should make scanners like what public safety uses, i.e out of Mil Spec plastic. Is that so hard to do?

No. What's hard to do is getting cheap hobbyists to pay more for the radios.

Caterpillar appears to have morphed into a butterfly and flew off. I was really interested in what the outcome would be.

Mabey . This post got me to wondering. Okay, my cellphone is ruggedized, my ham HT is ruggedized, wouldn`t it be neat if one of these companies making scanners could come up with a scanner that was ruggedized? Think on it for a moment, a scanner that could actually take a beating, that way ya wouldn`t have to worry about breaking it from normal use (ya know, the usual wear and tear of everyday use), that would be kinda cool . Perhaps Caterpillar spun a cocoon and we will hear from him in the spring.
