Angry $#%^&%$!!!!

Well this sucks! My BCD536HP arrived today and in my haste to unwrap, it fell right out of the box and smashed to the floor. Totally busted! WTF!!!

If you used a credit card to purchase the scanner, they credit card company "may" have some sort of insurance coverage.

I had to wrestle mine out of its packaging!!

Some time back my 396T was a bit bangged up I sent it to uniden and they replaced the case and tuned up the radio for a nominal charge.

They're not that stupid. They can tell if it was dropped outside of the packaging by looking at things like particles of dirt/debris/sand/etc embedded in any plastic parts that appear to have "collided" with something hard, like a floor. It's been tried a million times.

What is the point of this thread?

Thanks for joining the site to tell us that you broke your scanner. Better luck next time.

I feel really bad for you. Honestly I do, as I always think something like that might happen to me.

My suggestion: First, who did you buy it from? I would call them and tell them the honest truth. They may ship one again or charge a minimal fee.

Second, if you did not buy it direct from Uniden, I would call them and explain the story.

In this world, sometimes crappy, I cannot believe that any company would want you to lose $600.00 that way.

Seriously..try the honest route.

Best of Luck

Greg

I can only imagine the frustration.

I agree with the idea of talking with Uniden's service dept.

I would send it in to Uniden repair for $50.00 (hopefully)?!?

I don't know if there's any other way to get the damaged scanner replaced unless the credit card company can do something for insurance purposes

I'll bet this would be a first for Uniden !

I was also going to say. How about a picture. This way UPMan and everyone can see what happened.

First post on RR, broken radio unpacking, and no pic make me wonder. Just saying

Unfortunate outcome... it may be prudent to unpack sensitive/expensive/delicate gear whilst sitting at floor level in future or perhaps over a bed?

Try squaretrade.com. they have a 30 day signup period. My son shattered his tablet within a week of getting it fir his birthday. Signed up for a warranty and got it fixed - good as new. Not sure if they will do a scanner or not, but it's another option.....m
