And are you a "jew" by any chance? because if you are, don't blame us regular people for your mistake of birth by making such cowardly & jealous remarks. Why be civil? Your inner-self has been showing through quite well recently.
While, I no doubt you are confused, I can not see how his statement (as incorrect as I believe it is) can be seen as "foul", "treacherous", "unamerican", "sickminded", "cowardly", "inhuman", "quite putrid" or "disgusting".
Maybe you can enlighten us?
Or maybe my color or religion prevents you from doing so "civilly"?

Look up the information. Your messiah was not born on December 25. He was born in either the spring or the summer. The year is even wrong.
The only reason why christmas is in December is to compete with Hanukkah.
I am sorry that is science what am I thinking. I should know better not to use science to contradict the bible.

Actually it was more like September, Zechariah and Elizabeth were quite elderly, and had no children, and the angel gave them the news that they would have a son, to be named John. Luke Verses 23 and 24 tell us that when Zechariah finished his service in the Temple, he returned home (which would have been in early June). Upon his return, Elizabeth became pregnant. Verse 26 then says that in her sixth month of pregnancy (December), the angel Gabriel came to Mary to tell her that she was about to become pregnant with the Son of God. Nine months later would have been September.
More important though is that we celebrate the birth of Jesus and it happens to be on Dec 25th and whats the problem with that? Who is your Messiah? What do you mean when you said that Christmas was a rip off of the Jewish celebration. Present your case and your proof of this. Is it just because they overlap? Big deal and who cares? The important point is that we celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ and it is on December 25th so sorry if you don't like that.

As long as there are Christian ministries broadcasting on television, buying ads in newspapers, and billboards, and otherwise "spreading the word", there will be atheist groups out there feeling the need to counter what they feel is false or incorrect. This is actually perfectly ok. There is no requirement that anyone of faith provide their approval.

It's not any more moronic to display a sign proclaiming their atheistic beliefs than it is to display a Christmas tree. To an atheist, a Christmas tree can be quite offensive and provocative.

It's also important that we respect the beliefs of the millions of Americans who DON'T consider Christ to be their savior. Jesus was Jewish... What would HE think of this debate?
Personally, I applaud the State for allowing the various religious factions to make themselves known. Fact is, if they allow a Christmas tree to be displayed, they need to allow displays that represent other religions - and atheism IS a religious belief. In our house, we have a Christmas tree, AND several menorahs. Any excuse to celebrate something...
I especially like the Festivus pole. SOMEONE there has a sense of humor! I approve!
