What area of Placer County were you in when you got the traffic?
Geez, it's about time!
What frequencies are you picking the system up on?
They are licenced on Mt. Pluto, Kings Beach and Mt. Rose for
161.8250
161.8375
161.8500
After trying to scan the system in trunked mode with no luck I just put the frequencies in in conventional mode and do get traffic from here in Natomas but it's to digitized to tell what they
are saying.
Perfect timing! Not even a minute after reading your post, Rocklin PD came in on one scanner on their normal conventional frequency, and simulcast in P25 on 161.850 on my BC785D in conventional mode. In conventional mode I get a birdie or dead carrier on 161.800.I had the system programed wrong, got it fixed and I am now getting traffic. Now we need to find out who's talking, they seem busy whoever it is.
If I am understanding you people correctly, to hear anything from this system requires a digital scanner. In other words, I can't receive it on a PSR-300.
Is anyone using a PSR-500 or PRO-106 to track this VHF TRS? I know these radios can handle 800 MHz and UHF trunked systems, but I have not seen a VHF trunked system out there until this one.
If I was going to put up a repeater for this system to handle south Placer, Pilot Hill might be a good location.I am surprised that this system is licenced for Mt. Pluto, Kings Beach and Mt. Rose but seems to be transmitting from some place closer to Sacramento (Auburn?) they also are only licenced for 161.8250,161.8375 and 161.8500.
As far as licensing goes, they could be using a license for one of the participating agencies (city of Auburn, city of Rosevile, etc) and not Placer county.
