Default Voice Inversion 152.27 in Downtown Sacramento

I'm hearing Voice Inversion on 152.27 in Downtown Sacramento. Caught it the other day and the traffic seems to pick up in the evening hours.

It's licensed to CMH Manufacturing which is dba Karston Homes. The license says "Builders of manufactured homes. Radios will be used to coordinate daily activities."

Which leads me to believe that what I'm actually hearing isn't CMH Manufacturing... Why would they need voice inversion?

Has anyone else picked this up?

That seems like an odd frequency. Are you sure that is the actual frequency and not an image? Was it very strong?

Very likely a taxi company given the frequency range. I've heard them use voice inversion, even on LTR talkgroups, to try and prevent their competition from stealing their calls.

99% sure it's the right frequency... It was VERY strong near 16th and G and stayed strong all the way to 34th and T. I even picked it up in a building in the Curtis Park area easily... (Even SRRCS doesn't come in well in that building)

It is a Taxi - I confirmed that a few years back when I used my AOR 8200 with Voice Inversion card. I also have it locked out of my CloseCall because it goes every 5 seconds where I live.

I was curious about this one too, thanks for clearing it up ant. It was spamming my close call when I drove around City Hall and I couldn't figure out who it belonged to.

Years ago I used my Ramsey descrambler to listen to that frequency, and I found out that it was Co-op Cab. They had separate base and mobile frequencies. I think 152.270 was the base frequency, and 157.530 was mobile.

That was going to be my next question. Thanks!

The reason they don't show up with a specific license is because it's one of the former paging freqs that's been reassigned. It's similar to the reassignment and auction of 454MHz for general commercial two-way.

So if someone does find someone around 152, 157 and 454 this is commonly why they don't appear in an FCC search. They do have a license it just falls under a separate system.

There's a program called "Invert.exe" (I think) floating around the web, which you can use in lieu of an external card. FYI.

(Here are a couple!)

I've downloaded several programs that do this. They are convenient but not as good as hardware doing the same thing. If you've got a scanner you can dedicate for this, connected to a computer sound input, it can be quite handy though. The program I am using is called VoiceInvert (VoiceInv.exe).
