Default BCD396XT settings for P25

I was wondering what setting to adjust my BCD396XT to to hear the digital audio more clearly on the RCS and conventional?

My understanding is that you adjust the adjustable P25 settings to the correct levels for the RCS and conventional........when you get them, let me know, because it is a well guarded secret! :-P

BTW, which RCS site are you having problems with, and are you getting audio cutting in and out at full signal like I am?

I am in the Harbor area of Oceanside and the correct settings for me are mode 11 and level 100 when monitoring the north zone. Those settings could be completely wrong for other areas or zones though. I suggest experimenting to find the setting for your situation.

I was just down in Carlsbad over this past weekend and I was able to hear the digital north zone fine with no issues but I was using an GRE PSR 600 and a Radio Shack PRO 106. GRE has a way better digital tuner than Uniden and you have to make no setting adjustments thats why I sold my Uniden BCD 396/996 XT models because of these issues on the digital side.

If you have close call set to not disturb it should not cause it to be broken up.
Unless you have Priority on too.

Default DON'T UPDATE FIRMWARE

As Paul (Anderegg) and I found out, the recent firmware updates made the RCS unusable. We both reverted back to last version and everything works great!

I agree. With the RCS, the latest firmware for the 996XT is WORSE than the previous version. I upgraded and within 5 minutes reverted back.

Red face

Guys i'm glad i haven't updated my firm ware but mine is choppy at times too when listening to KSICS here in KS.

Have you guys ever noticed when Monitoring your system or other systems that are P25 that the scanner puts out a little push sound right before some one talks like a little fart sound like our little four legged creatures can do sometimes i can here it do that but with out the smell i was just wondering if ya'll herd your 396xt doing that.. Ra

I'm wondering what the settings for the P25 are for the KSICS system..

I do get improved P25 when I use the right antenna as well like say if I want to monitor the MCC Corectional Center in San Diego it is a UHF Smartzone system and it sounds really good the audio quality when I use the UHF antenna.

I know no reason why it would.
The only change will be the actual radio frequencies used in the various 800 MHz systems.
