Default Scanner for San Mateo Co. EMS

I am looking at getting a scanner that will cover digital, trunked, etc. Will the GRE PSR600 cover San Mateo County EMS... I heard that it is possible encripted. Has anyone actually programmed this into a digital trunked scanner and have it work?

Thanks

Thumbs up San Mateo County EMS Monitoring

Hello,

I monitor the San Mateo County Digital Trunked System on a PRO-106 which is a Radio Shack version of the GRE PSR-500. Identical except for the location of the Speaker. Naturally, you will be able to hear SMC on the Desktop PSR-600 too.
The PRO-96 and 2096 will also work well for this system.

Enjoy !

Mary

Thanks Mary! and you are able to monitor the EMS for the county, not just the sheriffs office?

The only thing that I have ever heard on the San Mateo County TRS that is encrypted is narcotics and vehicle theft task force.

San Mateo EMS Trunked Radio System is on the UHF T-Band... the 800 mhz for AMR is more than likely an outdated system, or a system used for another county or BLS... AMR's dispatch for BLS and Contra Costa Co ALS systems are in Burlingame.

Mary-- Thanks for checking out the UHF T-Band system on your scanner for me.... I didnt want to spend the 4-500 bucks for a scanner that wouldnt work for what I needed it to.

Definitely not an outdated system. FCC shows it as active. And not a system used for dispatch. FCC also shows it as business conventional. And before their current system, they were dispatched on a conventional frequency in the 480 MHz range. 482.3125 if I remember correctly.

And likely not for another county. The FCC shows it registered to the company AMR itself with transmitters in San Mateo County.

I am curious to find out what these are as well. Likely data or intra-company chat.

This info is correct.
The SMCo TRS is T-band.
The 800mhz AMR system is there system & has nothing to do with SMCo.
AMR has their dispatch center in Burlingame & they cover all counties except for San Mateo Co.

SMCo has a contract with AMR for Medic & dispatches them via the SMCo TRS system as listed in the RR list for SMCo. TRS system.

One of my two scanners streams is the SMCo TRS & I get the AMR/medic calls just fine with a 996T.

The only traffic on this TRS that is encrypted are the NARC units. Everyone else is in the clear.

The RR list for the SMCo. TRS system is good to use.

You will need to listed to one of two feeds:
San Mateo County Fire and CAL FIRE Live Scanner Audio Feed
or
San Francisco Bay Area EMS Dispatch Live Scanner Audio Feed

The SMCo Law feed includes AMCo AMR dispatch with the SO etc.
The SFBA EMS Dispatch is just that for San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara counties.

For frequencies, see here:
San Mateo, County of (Public Safety) Trunking System, Various, California - Scanner Frequencies

Finally got around to updating the scanner load out for the SF Bay Area EMS feed.

Should now have everything in it ringing the bay area.
