Maybe we should have an audio feed. LOL

I can hear them sometimes here in Oregon,
but too much noise to make out anything.

Maybe you should try reading the article I quoted. They mention Skynet.

Yes they mentioned Skynet, I'm quite aware of that.
But there is a difference between "SkyNet of terminator" and skynet the sat network....

In your defense though I have to admit I "assumed" your were making a movie pun, I suppose regardless of it being that or not I was too quick to post something that was a bit more useless than your post was

Question

I don't usually monitor 255.550 for pirates but today I logged a brief comm check from a US military station on that freq. I can't quite ID the station though. Any ideas?

Yes. Very often I come across foreign language broadcasts that sound like commercial radio stations.
I 'suspect' pirates are just 'broadcasting' to their friends.

By the way, using a DVB-T dongle I can see about 2 MHz of the 245-270 MHz band at one time.
I've logged a lot of active 'pirate' frequencies.

A short video clip of SDRSharp tuned to 255.550 MHz is here.
If you watch it in Full Screen HD, you can see a second active pirate down the band at 255.450 MHz.

Down around 245 MHz there's a lot of data/digital activity.
