Setting up my UHF SATCOM Andrew BiFilar Helix

I have an Andrew UHF SATCOM helix that I had set up in another QTH 10 years ago, I am located in Central Florida and having been inactive for a while wonder what MILSAT satellites are best for me to receive and will be visible from my location. Once I have a plan, I will set a base in the proper location in my yard (XYL approved).

What satellites are the most active? Any clear comms from middle east? Operation Deep Freeze?

I have in past listened to MILSATS (and ATS-3) since about 1990 when I first used a Regency MX5000 and a military discone.

Going on info a few years old there are three orbital slots visable from your location. Two are over the central US at 100 and 105 W and one over the Atlantic at 22.5 W. Rough pointing from your location would be 49 deg elevation and 220 deg compass for the 100/105 slots and 18.5 deg elevation and 106 deg compass for the Atlantic slot.

About 31 deg elevation and 222 deg azimuth for the central US slots and 21 deg elevation/120 deg azimuth for the Atlantic slot. Both of you guys are too far east to pick up the Pacific sats.

Wish I had an Elvis waffle from Vic's in Tewksbury right about now........

The CONUS sats are worthless. It's basically just a big Obamaphone system for South America.
