Using bctool with BCD996T

I've got bctool loaded onto my computer. I've connected the scanner to the computer and everything goes fine until a certain point. I don't have the premium subscription with radioreference; maybe I should. With the setup I have, am I able to cut and paste data from the web site to bctool or somehow import data to bctool?
Also, does the scanner have to be connected to the computer and turned on in order to input data manually into bctool?

If you are trying to import data from the database, you must get the premium subscription.

If memory serves (I have BCTool installed on my machine at home, can't do it on the work PC), it will also import UASD files and others as well.
