Default Digital Help

The city I listen to is getting ready to go digital and I don't know how it works. They say they can talk to each other. I know omaha is on it now. When i get the digital scanner what do I do? How do officers know what frequency to be on? Any help would be wonderfull.

Thanks

First, this question should be asked in the scanning forum, not software. Second, if you mean the ORION system, any digital scanner will work just fine. Don't know what city you are monitoring, you didn't say. The officers are not on any one frequency anymore. They are on a TG (Talk Group) that allows them to talk to each other without interfering other traffic. There are those that can put this into understandable language better than me. There is a wiki on the home page that addresses the different types of digital trunktracking there is out there to be monitored. Welcome to the radio reference and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
